Who we are
The Ipswich Choral Society is a friendly mixed choir of some 70 members. It is the second oldest Choral Society in England, having been formed in 1824 by a group who gave the first provincial performance of Haydn's Creation in their first concert. The Society caters for all abilities and has a wide musical repertoire. In the recent past, our concert programmes have ranged from 19th century African - Missa Luba - to Mozart's Requiem and all styles in between. The Society is pleased to have as its President, Cem Mansur, who has conducted the choir twice with the City of London Sinfonia. We have recently built an association with Arras, Ipswichs twin town in France, and have now visited there several times to sing and generally have a good time. Ipswich Choral Society is a member of Making Music, the national federation of music societies. The Society is a Registered Charity (number 278866) and is supported by Ipswich Borough Council.Page 1 of 1 pages
